![]() ![]() ![]() A police office came over and over the course of the next few minutes, while her friends were in the concessions line, the young lady continued to beg to use the restroom and was told to leave. At this point, in the vein of BBQ Becky, Permit Patty, and Cornerstore Caroline, the manager called the police on the young lady. The manager told her could not use the restroom, and the young lady began begging. At this point, the manager and 2-3 other employees were standing right in the area. The young lady again said that here friends were buying something and asked if she could go ahead. While we were ordering our items, a woman (apparently the manager? White lady with mouse brown hair) approached the young lady and told her that was not allowed to use the restroom. Now, this young lady very obviously needed to use the restroom pretty desperately (or she's very talented at acting out desperately needing to go). The clerk went into a back room, apparently to grab the manager, and returned and told her to stand a few feet away, which she did. Apparently, he told her that the restrooms are only for patrons, and she said that she was waiting for her friends and they would buy something and asked if she could go ahead and use the restroom. When we arrived at the theater, we got in line to purchase snacks and beverages, although there was a young, black female in front of us, who had clearly been attending the Pride festivities (rainbow necklaces, rainbow themed shirt, etc.) and who was asking the counter person if she could use the restroom. That to say, there are very few places for people to find amenities such as food, beverages, and restrooms during off times. I work downtown and live quite near it and know that downtown tends to shut down after 5 and on the weekends. Yesterday was also Pride in Houston, which is located downtown within a few blocks of this theater. I bought tickets to see a 9:15 showing of Aladin last night. However, after last night, I will not be visiting this theater again, nor will my friends. Nevertheless, I have continued to come to this location as it is the most geographically convenient for me. It is often understaffed, short or out of concessions items, and the theaters are generally somewhat dirty. I have been to this particular theater several times, and have generally been underwhelmed. Tickets for two were $32 online including fee/tax so although pricier than a typical theater, it’s still a nicer experience, especially for a date night. I think it’s worth giving AMC Dine In 8 a chance. As of last night 3 of the garage entries including 2 on Capitol were not available to access so you may need to research which entry is open. ![]() It was clear many of the frequent customers had been lost since the ownership change since we would normally wait in a line of 10 or so guests. We visited at 9:30 Saturday night and there was no one in line at the bar or concession stand and it was easy to find good seats online. There were a ton of different flavor options at the self serve soda machine, like ginger lime and cherry vanilla Diet Coke. My typically overpriced soda ($5.69 for a small) ended up being free because of points on my AMC Stubs account. Unlike the last visit, an ice bucket was provided upon request at the bar with the bottle of wine ordered. We found free street parking but I asked the ticket taker if they validate garage parking and he said they now do that. We were pleasantly surprised at changes made. ![]() I had sworn off this theater since the change to AMC but we ended up giving it another shot only because of a preferred showtime to see Molly’s Game, which was excellent. I would recommend this theatre for an upscale movie experience. We saw "Hidden Figures" about the first black women to gain importance and recognition at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia in the early 1960's. The movies are very good, and not just your typical action-packed, shoot-em-up/bang-em-up, gratuitous sex and violence types of movies. The menu may vary from time to time, but it's always good snack food. It's more like bar food with extra class: there are salads, flatbreads, and skewers. When you're done with the movie, there is very interesting dining fare. The best part is that you can take your alcoholic drinks with you into the theatre. Not only do they offer traditional movie theatre fare: popcorn, fountain drinks, and candy, but they have a real bar where they serve specialty drinks. There is parking for about $10.00 that will take you right to the entrance of the Theatre, which helps on a rainy day: it was raining when my wife and I went.Īnyway, when you enter the theatre, you feel like you're in the lobby of a hotel - it is nicely decorated with furniture of good taste. First, it is located downtown in the Theatre District where the Arts flourish. If you're in the mood for a throwback experience, this is a must see theatre. ![]()
